We have had a wonderful theme week this week thinking about 'Around our Town'.
We began on Monday by celebrating Halloween and we loved seeing everyone's costumes. We thought about the traditions of Halloween and played the game: would you rather. Then we made a folded paper box which we decorated and we also made gingerbread monsters. We discussed what we can do to stay safe when we go trick or treating.
On Tuesday and Wednesday we looked at Bridgwater carnival. Miss Baker brought in lots of her carnival costumes to show us and we then designed our own carnival floats and costumes. In Forest School we also made a witch's potion which we really enjoyed.
On Wednesday we thought about how to stay safe in the dark. We learnt that we need to wear bright clothing in the dark as we tested different materials. We also created colourful carnival masks.
On Thursday we learnt about Diwali and thought about how this is similar and different to our carnival celebrations. We made a paper lantern and decorated this and also talked about the importance of fire safety.
On Friday we looked at the history of Bonfire Night and then we made firework pictures using straws, paint and glitter. Also in PE Miss Baker showed us one of her carnival dances to learn.
In maths we have been using part part whole models to help us write addition and subtraction number sentences.
