Our School Values – Ready, Respectful, Safe

At Hamp Nursery and Infants School, our values of Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Safe underpin everything we do. They help us create a positive, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, can develop independence and is ready to learn. We explicitly teach these values through our daily routines, interactions, relationships and learning experiences, helping children understand how to make positive choices and treat others with kindness.

 

Be Ready

We encourage children to develop the skills and attitudes they need to make the most of every learning opportunity.

• Ready to listen: developing attention, listening skills and the ability to follow instructions.

• Ready to learn: engaging in activities, asking questions and developing curiosity.

• Ready for new challenges: building confidence, resilience and independence by trying new things and learning from mistakes.

We support children through clear routines, positive encouragement, engaging learning experiences and opportunities to develop independence.

 

Be Respectful

We teach children to value themselves and others, celebrating the differences that make our school community special.

• Respect everyone: treating children and adults with kindness, fairness and consideration.

• Use kind words: welcoming others, using polite language and developing positive friendships.

• Listen to others: valuing different opinions, taking turns and expressing our own thoughts in a respectful way.

Through stories, role play, circle times and everyday interactions, we model kindness, empathy, inclusion and positive ways to resolve disagreements.

 

Be Safe

We help children understand how to keep themselves and others safe, both physically and emotionally, in school and online.

• Keep each other safe: using kind hands, safe feet and appropriate words.

• Make safe choices: understanding classroom expectations, using equipment carefully and considering how our actions affect others.

• Stay safe online and offline: learning age-appropriate ways to use technology safely and knowing which trusted adults can help if something worries us.

We reinforce these expectations through consistent routines, adult modelling, discussions and opportunities for children to practise making safe choices.

Working together

Our school values are most effective when they are understood and reinforced by everyone. Staff model the behaviours we expect, recognise children who demonstrate our values and provide guidance when children need support. We work in partnership with families to ensure that children receive consistent messages about positive behaviour, respect and safety.

By embedding Ready, Respectful, Safe throughout school life, we aim to help every child become a confident, caring and responsible learner.
