Celebrating Differences Theme week
We began the Autumn term by embracing and celebrating what makes each of us unique. Together, we explored the importance of our differences and discussed how they enrich our classroom community. The children reflected on how life would be less interesting if we were all the same, and recognised that everyone brings something special to our group.
Over the week, we explored the many different ways families and homes can look, appreciating that each is unique and meaningful. We also learned to greet each other in several languages and took time to discover more about the diverse cultures and traditions represented in our classroom.
As part of our celebration of individuality, the children made posters about diversity, researched their own heritage, and created portraits that reflected their identities. These activities gave them a chance to express what makes them special and to share their unique backgrounds with the class. As part of our learning, we also discussed British Values and explored the inspiring contributions celebrated during Black History Month.
It was an exciting and meaningful beginning to the term, filled with curiosity, creativity, and a sense of community.
