The Power of Words – Theme Week
This week, children across the school explored The Power of Words, discovering how language can inspire creativity, kindness and storytelling.
In Stardust Class, the week began with a special Meet the Author session with Emily Lloyd-Gale, where the children learned about being an author, asked thoughtful questions and reflected on how words can make a difference. Inspired by her stories, children created their own ideas for future books.
Throughout the week, the children took part in a wide range of engaging activities, including:
Creating Word Jars to collect exciting, powerful and kind words
Making Magic Word Wands and discovering new vocabulary using dictionaries and thesauruses
Exploring kindness and feelings words through circle time, a Kindness Tree and compliment chains
Becoming storytellers through small world play, puppet shows and character word clouds
Celebrating as Word Wizards, writing poems, going on word hunts and sharing their favourite words
Each class contributed to a shared floor book, showcasing written work, artwork, photographs and children’s quotes from the week. Classes have also shared photos and highlights on their individual class pages.
It has been a joyful celebration of language, creativity and the positive impact words can have — we are so proud of the children’s enthusiasm and imagination! ✨📚
