Food and Farming theme week
What a fantastic start to the term! This week, our whole school has been diving into the theme of ‘Food and Farming’. The children have absolutely loved getting up close with alpacas, sheep, donkeys, mice, and rabbits—it’s been a week full of hands-on experiences!
A highlight was the visit from a real tractor, sparking great conversations about how farming machinery has changed over time. Throughout the week, the children have explored life on a farm and learned about where our food comes from. They’ve had the chance to plant their own vegetables, care for their garden beds, and even make their own salads and fruit salads.
To round off the week, the children created some truly impressive artwork inspired by everything they’ve learned. Using a mix of art techniques—watercolours, dot painting, collage, natural materials, fabrics, and pencil drawing—they brought their ideas to life in wonderfully creative ways.
They cut up their class oranges and put them in the whole school fruit salad which they enjoyed.
