Theme Week - Words, Words, Words!
To begin the Spring Term, Paddington Bear Class enjoyed a variety of different activities during our Words, Words, Words theme week. We explored a ten-word tale from the book, 'Ten-Word Tiny Tales' by Joseph Coelho. We explored different aspects of the tale by looking at the illustration, the words and the thoughts that the story can provoke. We made our own illustrations and extended the story by writing the ending.
We have also learnt about Winter Solstice where we have talked about how it is celebrated around the world and the differences between Summer and Winter time. We wrote poems and looked at the seasons in our Mathematics lesson.
We also focused on World Day of Peace and how important it is to have peace and a peaceful classroom. We took part in mindfulness activities and thought about how we could be more environmentally friendly.
On Friday, we were visited by Pete the Poet. Pete told stories and helped us to write and perform poetry. He worked with us to make poetry writing fun and engaging! We even went on a magic carpet ride! The children had an amazing time and were able to write poems about the visit and our classroom with great enthusiasm.
