Being Resilient theme week
Snowbears have shown great enthusiasm during our whole school 'Being Resilient' theme week. On Monday we discussed teamwork and the importance of working together to achieve simple and complex tasks. The children enjoyed working in small groups and as a whole class.
On Tuesday, the children talked about healthy bodies including the importance of exercise, sleep, hygiene, relaxation and healthy eating.
On Wednesday we talked about the importance of a 'calm' state. We discussed how we can manage our feelings and use a wide range of strategies to calm our minds. The children enjoyed taking part in mindfulness activities they had planned themselves.
On Thursday, we discussed the term 'growth mindset'. We shared positive affirmations with each other such as 'we can't do this yet, I will get better at this, I can learn from others and my mistakes, I will keep trying and this may take some time'.
On Friday, we celebrated how it's 'good to me' where the children talked about why they are special and proud of themselves. They created medals to celebrate their life successes and shared these with their friends.
Having a resilient mind helps us to focus ourselves with our learning and enables us to work together with our friends!
