'Food and Farming' Theme Week
The children have come back to school to take part in our 'Food and Farming' themed week. It has been a busy shorter week of fantastic learning about 'Life at the farm'. On Tuesday the children were excited to meet Lexi the farmer who drove her tractor into school for us all to see and have an assembly to talk about her important job as a dairy farmer. On Wednesday, the children enjoyed a visit from Clay hill Farm who brought alpacas named Sidney and Steve along for us to meet. There were also chicks, mice and Basil the bunny rabbit to see and learn about what other animals live at the farm. It was interesting to ask questions about the different animals e.g. what the animals eat, where the animals live.. The children talked about foods which comes from a farm such as milk from cows to use for making cheese, butter, ice cream, and eggs from chickens. The children enjoyed pretending to milk the cows outside at the milking station. On Thursday, the children had the opportunity to meet some more animals which visited the school in the afternoon with Farmer Mike. We saw some donkeys and sheep with baby lambs. Wow, we have been lucky to have lots of visitors in our school this week.
